Gun Safety

The Constitution guarantees the right to bear arms but the government also has an obligation to protect the lives of its citizens.  At present we have people who need a gun for protection but we also have daily mass shootings. One in four deaths of children in Tennessee are caused by guns (1).  Guns need to be regulated (background checks, training in safe use, etc.) just like any other item which can cause harm.  746 people were killed in mass shootings in 2023 in the US (2); many more died from individual shootings.
